Hi, my name is Goddessinfreefall. Those who know me laugh at how perfect my nickname is for me.
So, I could use some advice. I was just accepted to ITT Technical Institute in Utah. The staff was really excited to let me in, because I have Cerebral Palsy and worked in IT for 18 years before getting laid off. Because I already have a degree (Journalism/PR, 1986), I don't qualify for a Federal Pell grant. Vocational Rehabilitation has submitted a request to assist me, but it wouldn't cover much. I do qualify for a first year loan. But I am already deep in debt, mostly due to stupidity.
I've been looking for work since June 2007. My skills are outdated and limited. I thought I had found a way to "make it" by starting ITT Tech. Now I'm on the verge of not attending because I can't pay. I've tried googling grants and scholarships, but it's very confusing! My Voc Rehab counsellors offer no direct guidance.
I feel like I might not have a chance to start over. I can't give up though. Any ideas or advice?
